Who it is for

  • Infielders at any position, from youth through college preparation
  • Players whose arm is fine but whose feet arrive late
  • Middle infielders working on turns and exchanges
  • Athletes trying to hold down a position on a travel roster

What happens in a session

Feet first

Almost every bad throw from the infield is a footwork problem wearing an arm problem’s clothes. Work starts on the approach and the angle to the ball.

Hands and the funnel

Glove work is trained to a repeatable path so the exchange is in the same place every time, which is where throwing accuracy actually comes from.

Reads and angles at game speed

Coach Martinez played shortstop professionally in the Detroit Tigers organization and manages in the PGCBL. The reads he teaches are the ones he had to make.

Throwing under a clock

Once the footwork holds, the work moves to volume and tempo, because a clean rep at half speed is not the rep the game asks for.

Who teaches it

Each coach has a full service record on their own page, with what they played, where, and what they teach here.

What we measure with

The point of the equipment is that a change either shows up in a number or it did not happen.

Onform

The video app where an athlete’s lessons, drills and side-by-side comparisons live, so work continues between sessions.

Video analysis

High-frame-rate capture reviewed frame by frame with the athlete during the session.

Questions

The full list of questions people ask covers ages, pricing, cancellation and parking.

Who teaches infield defense at Arsenal?

Joe "Skipp" Martinez teaches infield defense at Arsenal Performance Training. He played shortstop professionally for two seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization, played in the AA Puerto Rico Winter League, and has managed the Batavia Muckdogs in the PGCBL since 2021, winning Regular Season Division titles from 2022 to 2025. Sessions start on footwork, then hands, angles and the throw.

Which infield positions do you work with?

Arsenal Performance Training works with infielders at any position. Sessions start on footwork and the angle to the ball, because most errant throws from the infield are footwork problems rather than arm problems. Glove work is trained to a repeatable path so the exchange happens in the same place every time, which is where throwing accuracy comes from.

What ages do you train?

Arsenal Performance Training works with athletes from age six through the professional level. Founder Ricardo Lizcano has spent over a decade coaching that full range, and has completed more than 10,000 lessons in person and online. Instruction is built around the individual athlete rather than an age bracket, so a nine-year-old and a college pitcher are not given the same session.

What can I use my membership credits for?

One membership credit at Arsenal Performance Training is one athlete in one age-specific group class: hitting, baseball pitching, strength or defense. Credits cannot be used for 1-on-1 lessons. Anyone in the household on the account can use them, and once used a credit is gone, so War Machine's 40 credits can go to either of a family's two athletes. Max Arsenal also includes twelve thirty-minute cage credits, and Tank Soldier eight.
